The farmers who grow Cloudforest Coffee are indigenous Mayans who live in the highland areas of Chiapas, Mexico. They live in a dense high-elevation forest sustained by the moisture of constant clouds. From their fields, they can see the mountain they call Mut Vitz, and that is the name of their coffee collective. Cloudforest Fair Trade Coffee is available in two flavors and is distributed by Cloudforest Initiatives, a small non-profit organization committed to assisting and supporting the Zapatista Maya communities of Chiapas, Mexico. Their projects in the Zapatista communities in addition to Fair Trade coffee include health care, women’s basic education, Fair Trade ironwork production and travel seminars.
