The Peruvian Tinya Drum is a double-headed goat skin stretched over a wooden bark frame. Traditionally, the 'Tinya' drum comes in many sizes and the skins are pulled tight with vegetable ropes or animal leather. If the skin tension becomes naturally 'low' or loose due to humidity, place the drum near a heat source, but not too close.
HOW TO PLAY: Hold the drum from the loose twine. Now strike the drum with the stick. Each side sounds differently. Alternately, hold the drum and press the skin of the drum with the thumb or a finger to 'choke' the beat. Little drummers can play the drum on its side.
